Top Ten Tuesdays is a meme hosted by The Broke and Bookish that features a new topic each week where we have to put down our top ten of it.
Today's Topic:
Top Ten Book Covers I'd frame as Pieces of Art
You know how they say, "Never judge a book by it's cover," well , that's exactly what we're doing on today's Top Ten Tuesday.
But in this case it's a good thing. We're simply choosing our favorite book covers out there that we think are unique, beautiful, fun enough to hang on our walls.
Choosing only from the books and their series, that I've read,
Here are my Top Ten Book Cover Choices:
(click on any of the book covers to direct you their Goodreads page)
1.) The Falling Kingdoms Series by Morgan Rhodes
Falling Kingdoms (book#1) • Rebel Spring (book#2) • Gathering Darkness (book#3 not out yet)
2.) The Elemental Trilogy by Sherry Thomas
The Burning Sky (book#1) • The Perilous Sea (book#2 not out yet)
3.) The Museum of Extraordinary Things by Alice Hoffman
4.) The Airship Racing Chronicles by Melanie Karsak
Chasing the Star Garden (book#1) • Chasing the Green Fairy (book#2)
I have the ebooks on my Kindle but BOY! Do I want the physical copies, Gorgeous they are!
5.) Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
Throne of Glass (book#1) • Crown of Midnight (book#2) • Heir of Fire (book#3)
*Check out The Assassin's Blade, which contains all five Throne of Glass Novellas, the cover is pretty freakin badass too!!
6.) A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess
7.) The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
*I just had to show both of the covers they have out for this book. How do you choose? They're both so lovely!!
Which of the two covers would you pick to have in your library or picture on your wall??
8.) The Abhorsen Trilogy by Garth Nix
Sabriel (book#1) • Lirael (book#2) • Abhorsen (book#3)
**Keep an eye out for Clariel coming this October. Book #4, but a prequel to the story
9.) Abarat Series by Clive Barker
Abarat (book#1) • Days of Magic, Nights of War (book#2) • Absolute Midnight (book#3)
*I didn't post book #3's cover b/c I don't like it as much as I do these two.
10.) The Hellbound Heart by Clive Barker
I know I know, another Barker book. What can I say...he's a brilliant artist!
The saying is very much true, we do judge books by their covers, I'm sometimes guilty of it and I'm pretty sure most of you are too....
I'm I right Y'all?
That's why we see many changes in book covers. Authors have to find ways to make their covers more appealing to everyone. Gender is a huge reason you see covers change too.
To see an AWESOME blog post on this, check out Maureen Johnson's The Gender Cover Up. You'll get to see "Cover Flipping" where they take "feminine" book covers and change them completely, to appeal to men!
IT IS CRAZY!! For real guys, check it out!
There are so many books out there in the world with SO MANY different book covers. Thank goodness I had it narrowed down to the books I've read b/c if I could of just picked any book cover out there, GEESH.... this list would go on......

DeleteVery pretty covers you've got there. I have a feeling that the ToG covers are going to be making the rounds today. For obvious reasons. :)
ReplyDeleteI really like the Airship Racing Chronicles covers too. They are lovely!
I do love the Falling Kingdoms as well. Which reminds me that I still need to carry on with that series...
I did cut The Night Circus from my list. You know, there's just to many beautiful covers out there. But it is one of my favourites too.

Sometimes I get so confused with your image uses that I think you're referencing Adventure Time in your list LOL. The covers to Perilous Sea/Burning Sky really make me want to pick up that series!

My TTT This Week.
HAHAHAAA! Well Adventure time is one hot animation creation, don't ya think :)
DeleteThankfully you didn't come by today with any PO-TA-TOE references! whew!!! HA!
Thanks for stopping by Joey xo
Gorgeous picks Michelle! I love both covers of The Night Circus but I think the second one JUST gets it for me! also the covers for The Airship Racing Chronicles and the Elemental series are stunning! Thanks for dropping by on my list :)
ReplyDeleteAh ha! We both picked the Night Circus, such a gorgeous cover. And I haven't read The Burning Sky or The Perilous Sea, but those covers are beautiful, and they match so well together! Great post. And I loved Maureen Johnson talked about the cover flipping. It is so true the way that YA books by female authors get much more feminine covers than their male counterparts.
ReplyDeleteI think I might go blind from the beauty of all these covers - haha! ;) Just kidding, but goodness! They're all so amazing! Anyway, thank you so much for sharing and fabulous choices! <3
ReplyDelete~ Zoe @ The Infinite To-Read Shelf

Great picks, love every cover you've chosen! Lots of people went with the Night Circus but that's not surprising as it has such wonderful covers. Love the Airship Racing Chronicles (need to buy the second book!) and the Falling Kingdoms (also need to buy the second book!), I could go on forever! It was so hard to narrow them down I think I might have to share some of my favorite covers on a regular basis :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous choices, Michelle! I definitely would love to have the covers for The Night Circus on my wall!
ReplyDeleteI love this cover of the clockwork orange!!! I have a different one, unfortunately..
