Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly bookish meme,
hosted by Breaking the Spine,
that showcase upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.
Today's Book:
For those of you who don't know, Clariel is a prelude to the phenomenal Abhorsen Trilogy.
Another thrilling and dark tale from the awesome Old Kingdom series by Garth Nix.
Fans, the wait is not quite over yet! Harper Collins release date is
not til October 14th, 2014
"Set 600 years before Sabriel is born comes Clariel, the daughter of the one of the most notable families in the Old Kingdom, with blood relations to the Abhorsen and, most importantly, to the King. When her family moves to the city of Belisaere, there are rumors that her mother is next in line for the throne. However, Clariel wants no part of it—a natural hunter, all she ever thinks about is escaping the city's confining walls and journeying back to the quiet, green world of the Great Forest.
But many forces conspire against Clariel's dream. A dangerous Free Magic creature is loose in the city, her parents want to marry her off to a killer, and there is a plot brewing against the old and withdrawn King Orrikan. When Clariel is drawn into the efforts to find and capture the creature, she discovers hidden sorcery within herself, yet it is magic that carries great dangers. Can she rise above the temptation of power, escape the unwanted marriage, and save the King?"

Wow. How have I never heard of these books before?! I'm so out of the loop! I've been on a fantasy kick lately, I just can't get enough of them, so this series sounds right up my alley Michelle! Love those Australian covers too, they're gorgeous:)
ReplyDeleteOh yea, no worries Jenny. I learned about this series about 3 years ago, and only JUST read the first book about 3 months ago. I believe Sabriel was published in 96.
DeleteI'm a HUGE fanatic for Fantasy, YA fantasy and the sub-fantasy genres (urban, high, epic...) I'm always reading something with magic, other worlds, battles between angels and beasts ( shout out to the Daughter of Smoke & Bone Trilogy) You'll hardly ever see me reading contemporary or classics, Lol!
Definitely give this series a try. Sabriel is such a strong, kick ass heroine too! GIRL POWER!
