Top Ten-ish Books If You Like Fairy Tale Retellings
Fairy Tale Retellings have always been done but as soon as a little show called Once Upon A Time aired on ABC, it seems that the demand for retellings sky rocketed. Now we see books everywhere with some kind of adaptation of the classic fairy tales.

* Snow White *
* Cinderella *
* Little Red Riding Hood *
Here are some books that have their own story but with hints of classic fairy tales throughout ~
There are even some out there, that are a bit twisted and naughty ;)
I really do love fairy tales being retold and tweaked. We all grew up loving the classics but it's nice to know that authors are out there flipping these stories around, finding new and improved ways to entertain us all.
There are a lot of hits and misses with Fairy Tale retellings but I enjoy reading them so I'll take the risk!!!
*Keep an eye out for these up and coming new fairy tale retellings:
What's your favorite Fairy Tale Retelling?
What Fairy Tale would you like to be retold? And if it's already been done, what would you do differently?

This top ten turned into a top 1021381293721931. I'm actually quite impartial to OUAT (mainly because I wished on many occasions that Emma would just die...but alas woe is me). I took the liberty of using the POTATO comment from last week as a starting point for my TTT this week...sort of LOL.

ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!
I love reading them but there's definitely the chance of reading a few bad ones. I'll take the risk though, I enjoy em! :)
DeleteThanks for stopping by Paulina xoxo
Great list!! I am so intrigued by fairy tale re-tellings but haven't picked one up yet and coming here has allowed me to hit the jackpot in this genre! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteOMG!! If you love Fantasy/ Sci-Fi, definitely read The Lunar Chronicles, with Cinder, Scarlet and Cress! Such a fun series. Oh and The Book of Lost Things, one of my favorites!!!
DeleteI really hope you try a retelling soon and Enjoy it! Thanks for stopping by Alexandra! xoxox ♥
Ooooo, great topic and great picks!! I'm loving the Lunar Chronicles... SO good!!! :)
ReplyDeleteYay! I'm so glad to hear that Lisa!!! Thanks you for stopping by and showing so love! ♥ Your the best Lisa! xoxox
DeleteI love fairy tale retellings. The first book I always think of is Juliet Marillier's Wildwood Dancing, a retelling of the twelve dancing princesses and the frog prince. One of my favorites. Also, Robin McKinley's Beauty, which is really wonderful. Thank you for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to read some of Juliet Marillier's books. I actually own the first three books in her Sevenwaters series. But everyone recommends that I should read Wildwood Dancing to start. I'll have to check out Robin McKinley's book. Thank you so much for the recommendations! I truly appreciate it and I will definitely look into them :)
DeleteGreat list! I love a good fairy tale retelling, especially if it is a creative spin that has references to the source material, The Lunar Chronicles were great for that! I'm thinking about doing retellings for my theme in June. These are definitely books to keep in mind!
ReplyDeleteCassi @ My Thoughts Literally
Definitely, Retellings would be an awesome theme to focus on.
DeleteThanks for stopping by Cassi xoxo
Great list Michelle ;-) You picked quite a few books I missed from my list, which is a good thing, it means that there are many more retellings out there.
ReplyDeleteI love The Book of Lost Things too, such a great book.
Thank you Natalie! :)
DeleteTil next time love xoxox

ReplyDeleteMissie @ A Flurry of Ponderings
I don't know why but the book "The Beast Within" really appeals to me and I'm not one for these kids of books on the whole. I am looking forward to Cinder however, whenever my TBR gets it to the top! Great list as always my dear!

I haven't read a lot of these, actually! Although I ADORE retellings. x) They're my absolute favourite. Hehe...I loved Tiger Lily and Splintered too...although I'm not sure if they're quite fairy tale retellings or just classic retellings? Anyways. Awesome list!
ReplyDeleteI have tried watching Once Upon A Time time and time again, really, I have, it just doesn't pull me in. I'm not one for fairytale re-tellings :(
ReplyDeleteI do so love a good retelling, and these are all awesome selections. Have you been following along with Fairy Tale Fortnight over on The Book Rat's blog?
ReplyDeleteYes, I love me a good re-telling, too. There's a really cool sounding one called Wild coming out soon. It's a Tarzan re-telling. Has that even been done? :)
ReplyDeleteI recently found Sarah Pinborough. And really enjoyed her three re-tellings she has out. And the hardcover books are also beyond beautiful!
Great list!
Happy reading!
