Top Ten Tuesday: Popular Authors I Have Never Read

Top Ten Tuesdays is a meme hosted by The Broke and Bookish that features a new topic each week where we have to put down our top ten of it.

Today's Question/Topic is:

Top Ten Popular Authors I Have Never Read

Author: John Green

Books Include: The Fault in Our Stars, Looking for Alaska, Paper Towns, I mean the list goes on.

I feel like everyone in the bookish world has read at list one of this man's books. The reason why I haven't is b/c I tend to shy away from contemporary/realistic fiction, which all of his books seem to be. One day, Mr. Green, One day......

Books Include: Fangirl, Eleanor & Park, and Attachments

Same reason behind John Green is the same with Ms. Rowell. She also writes contemporary/realistic fiction which, hopefully, one day I will read. In fact, I just check her book, Fangirl, out from the library on Sunday, so there

Soon Ms. Rowell you will be off this list, very soon :)

Author: Marissa Meyer

Books Include: The, "Oh so Popular", Lunar Chronicles

I feel like the only person in the entire bookish world that has not read this series. What the hell am I waiting for!!! Luckily my slack ass put a hold on book 1, Cinder, at the library. I'm first in line so hopefully I'll be getting my hands on it soon.

I'm hoping I like this series enough to add the books to my bookcase.
FINGERS CROSSED!!

I love this author's name, Richelle Mead, kind of like mine, Michelle Reed :)
Why I haven't read her books yet, I don't know. When it really comes down to it, I guess it's because it's about vampires and b/c of the whole Twilight invasion, I haven't really been interested. I've been recommended the VA series but quite a few people, so maybe.....

Please tell me there are others out there that haven't read this author's books!!! ANYBODY??

I'm always seeing reviews and blogs on the series. I don't even know what it's about. Maybe it's about time I look into it. Maybe......

Books Include: Twilight Series and The Host

Yes! That's right, I haven't read anything by this author. Not that I wasn't interested, it's just the whole "vampire explosion" thing didn't do it for me.
But I do want to read The Host and I bought the book on sale at the library, in great condition for only a buck! WOO HOO!

Author: Jodi Picoult

Haven't read her books but I have seen the movie, My Sister's Keeper, starring Cameron Diaz, which is based on her book. I also own one of her books, Harvesting the Heart, which I got out of the free bin at a bookstore. I just haven't the urge to read her work, possibly because it's in the contemporary/realistic fiction genre, the genre I never read. Man! I really gotta do something about this, LOL!!!

Author: Jane Austen

Books Include: Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Emma, and so many more classics

This is actually an author I'm quite disappointed in myself with. I can not believe I have let life slip without reading a single Jane Austen classic. I also find myself telling white lies, saying that I have read Pride & Prejudice when I have not. But I have seen the movies often enough to know what takes place. It happens to be one of my all time favorite films. Luckily I have three of her books in my bookcase, which I do intend to read. She will not be on this list forever!!

Author: Rick Riordan

I know I missing out...BUT.....I have the complete Percy Jackson series in my bookcase so I know I will be reading it sometime in the future.

 I PROMISE MR. RIORDAN!!

Books Include: The Notebook, A Walk to Remember, Message in a Bottle...OMG the list goes on!

I feel awful for not reading this authors wonderful books because I've seen all the movies that are based on them! I mean... ALL OF THEM! Love them too, so I know the books got to be Incredible, RIGHT?!?!
( He lives in North Carolina and most of his book's settings are there as well, which I find to be AWESOME b/c that's where I live )

All of these Authors I listed I have never read. 98% of them I want to read and I will read, some day, in the future. Until then I'll continue to go with the flow. If I read one of these authors, I sure there will be just another popular author that I have read, that will make this list. It's like a TBR list, a PATBR list :)

Can't wait to browse around and read y'alls Top Ten lists
Til Then....
HAPPY READING Y'ALL!!!

  1. Most of these should be on my list! John Green is in fact! Also, I would definitely recommend skipping the Twilight series and going straight for 'The Host' it was so much better in my opinion!

    1. Oh good! I just bought the Host b/c I heard really great things about it. I actually heard that Stephanie Meyer's is a great writer, besides the whole Twilight thing lol!!!
And I'm happy to see that you, as well, have not read John Green! "I'm NOT THE ONLY ONE" lol
woo hooo "I'm not alone!" haahaa haa :) Thanks for stopping by Katrina ♥♥♥

    1. They are definitely on my TBR list for sure!! I have Rainbow Rowell's, Fangirl, in my possession right now and plan on reading it very soon. Then Cinder is next up when it becomes available at the library and I'm sure I'll get to Rossi's books in the near future! Thanks for recommending them and thanks for stopping by :)

  4. I totally forgot about Nicholas Sparks! Yeah, I haven't read him either. I always think of that picture of a bunch of his book that says "Nicholas Sparks= a bunch of white people almost kissing" because that's what is on most of his covers. Ha ha ha ha.

    1. OMG! I know right! It's so funny seeing the books lined up, with a white boy and girl couple, in an "almost kissing" embrace on the front cover. LOL! It's hilarious!!! I do love the movies that are based on his books! Thanks for stopping by Tiffany xoxox and thanks for the laugh =D

  5. I put off John Green forever because, like you, I'm not a big contemporary realistic fan! That said, I finally read some of his stuff and I'm now obsessed!! I hate how much I love his writing!

  6. Well I am happy to see that we have a lot of the same authors on our lists which makes me feel a little better. I only very recently read Veronica Rossi but I did absolutely love her books. I really love Picoult, but if that genre isn't for you than I can't really recommend them. Happy to see I am not the only one who hasn't read Riordan or Austen.

    1. woohoo lol! I'm really trying to spread my wings and explore other genres. The authors I have listed are not only ones I haven't read, but they are one that I want to and plan on reading! So I see a Picoult book being read in the future :)
      Thanks for stopping by ♥

  7. I've read a few of these authors myself. Love Richelle Mead! Tried Marissa Meyer, but couldn't get into her series. I'm ashamed to admit reading to Twilight, but there, I said it! All the books have been donated to the library a few years back though!

I have one Jodi book I need to read as it was the only fantasy-esque book there was and it sounded incredible too. Between the Lines! She wrote it with her daughter, I've had it since it released!

And I read only 1 Nicholas Sparks book, wayyy before Paranormal YA was born and I needed something to read. I liked Mandy Moore at the time and wanted to see the movie, so I bought the book prior to (has the original cover art and everything) the movie released and read it. I did like it at the time, but likely wouldn't re-read it, only because I am such a paranormal reader now! :)

    Thanks for visiting my blog!

  8. I wish I could say I've never read a book by Stephanie Meyer. I was not feeling Twilight. Like at all. John Green, Jodi Picoult, and Rainbow Rowell are fabulous though. I hope you like Fangirl... it's one of my favorites!

  9. Oh wow there are so many great things I could say abotu all of these authors haha! Yes, even Sparks which I have enjoyed in the past and not ashamed to admit it! :D Picoult is good if you like shocking emotional twists. They're also kind of more or less the same but with a different plot. Something major happens, they go to court, the whole book is about proving wrong/right, then shocking ending. I actually tried my first Jane Austen book about 3 years ago just before I started my blog and it was not for me. :S I also just read one John Green book and it was maybe 6 months ago.But Rainbow Rowell GAH you so have to try her books esp. if you like contemporaries!

    1. See that the thing, I'm not that big on Contemporary. But I have a feeling that I'll like Rainbow Rowell maybe John Green. We'll see! I'm gonna start Fangirl tonight, I'm excited :)
Thanks for stopping by Giselle, as always xoxo ♥

  10. You have a lot of amazing reading ahead of you Michelle! You need to get on it :-) I'd start with Marissa Meyer if I were you. I'm with you on Rowell and Green. I've read one each of their books and I admit they are well done I'm just not into contemporary (at this time). If that ever changes I'll be looking for their stuff. Let us know if you decide to embark on reading any of these!

  13. Mead also wrote another series about a succubus. I read the first book in the series, Succubus Blues. It was a lot of fun, if you don't want to read a vampire series.

    1. Oh yea that's right. I've seen the books before, isn't one call Succubus Bites?!?! Oh wait that's a different writer, I think. Thanks for sharing and thank you for stopping by Pamela xoxo ♥

  15. Richelle Mead and Rick Riordan are two of my favorite authors, so I really hope you enjoy their books! I enjoyed Marissa Meyer's novels as well. John Green and Rainbow Rowell are okay authors for me. I've read the first in Rossi's series and enjoyed it, mostly. The first two Twilight books were okay but I never got around to continuing the series. .__. Thanks for sharing, Michelle!

  16. Definitely gotta get on that Rick Riordan. He's the man. How can you not have read Twilight? I don't understand it, Michelle! I've only read one book by John Green, but I really liked it. I'm making my way through my first Marissa Meyer book and no, I too have not read Veronica Rossi's books. To be honest, I don't ever plan on it, lol

    1. Well I just starting reading, enjoying reading, like 2 years ago. When Twilight came out I was to busy partying and being a mess. When I got into reading again, I tried to read Twilight but I could not get into it. I don't know if watching the movie spoiled it for me or what!?!?!
I don't really plan on reading any of Rossi's books either, lol!
Thanks for stopping by Miss Jones ♥ big hugs xoxo

  19. Seems like we have a lot of the same authors on our lists. I have to admit I've read one of Nicholas Sparks' books. It was enough to convince me never to read another. Mainly because it was all about making me feel good and then the ending just made me want to cry!!! Thanks for stopping by my list earlier!

  20. LOL we seem to share an awful lot of the same authors here: like John Green, Rainbow Rowell, Veronica Rossi, Jodi Picoult, Jane Austen and Nicholas Sparks! And like you, the reason Green, Rowell and Sparks are on this list is because I haven't felt the urge to read a contemporary book... in years! Veronica Rossi and Jane Austin are on the more urgent tbr shelf though lol. Oh and I've read and enjoyed Marissa Meyer, Stephenie Meyers and Rick Riordan (though only the Percy Jackson series so far!)

I hope you get a chance to read all of these authors/series soon :) Great list ^^
