Throwback Thursday: Flowers in the Attic

Throwback Thursday is a bookish meme hosted by Booksane and Bookfever.
Share a book from your past that you
are still crazy about. It can be from your childhood or from not reading it in a while. Lets show these books some love ♥♥♥

For my first Throwback Thursday I must share
the a book that started it all, especially for a lot of women out here in the bookish world. One that a lot of us still have on our bookshelves (I know I do).....

Flower in the Attic by none other than V.C. Andrews

Wow! Does this book hold so many memories for me. I was 13 years old when I first read this, summer of 1995 with my best friend.

My friend and I were at a flea market that her parents had a booth set up that sold coins. While walking the half mile circle around the market for the 3rd time we stopped at the booth selling used books. They had everything! Every book had about 4 copies. So we both picked Flowers in the Attic so we could buddy read.
So that whole weekend plus the next one, my friend and I spent reading.

It was an intense story, I thought! With me just turning 13 year old, some of the topics were complicated and confusing. The book was definitely unforgettable and one that my friend and I still talk about today.

There's now a re-made version of
1987's Flower in the Attic movie on Lifetime

Booksane and Bookfever's question of the week:

Do you have a reading goal for 2014, if so how many books do plan on reading?

Yes! My goal is 50 books! Last year my goal was 30 and I ended up reading 41. So I believe I'll achieve my goal! Plus some :)

What book from your past would you like to share for Throwback Thursday???
Til Next Time,
Happy Reading Y'all
xoxo

  1. I had read a bunch of her other books before I picked this one up and it was hard for me to read. And I was a die-hard fan. This book just didn't work for me for some reason. I don't remember it well at all anymore so maybe it's time for a re-read! I like that you buddy-read it. I don't think I had any real life friends as a kid that read much.

    1. yes! The topics of this book was very hard to read about! I think that's why I was so intrigued with it at 13 yrs old. I've never read anything like it. I think if my mother knew I was reading a book like that, she would of took it away.
